OVERHEARD

Okay, I think I've got a handle on the healthcare crisis now. No thanks to our media or politicians or the spinners and twisters who corrupt what remains of the public discourse. On Meet The Press yesterday, Kathleen Sebelius prevaricated and evaded over and over again, just like any pre-Obama politician, while Mitch McConnell proclaimed that we have the best healthcare system in the world, and when confronted with statistics that clearly disprove that contention, stared blankly for a moment, then said "Well, that's just the opinion of experts." Jesus. So anyway the problem is: we're over-medicated. Too many tests, too many procedures, too many consultations, too many pills. While insurance companies and malpractice attorneys have to shoulder their share of the blame, the big culprit is doctors themselves. Over the past twenty years or so, they've morphed from being doctors to being businessmen. Entrepreneurs. Capitalists. Growing their profit centers. Order more tests, make more money. Taking out that gallbladder nets you profit. Sending the patient home with some painkillers nets you zip. And patients don't benefit from this increased attention. Statistics are starting to show they're worse off. Sigh. Most discouraging of all: I haven't heard a thing in the Obama/Democrat plan that addresses this problem. He's trimming his sails to what he thinks can get passed. He's squandering his mandate. This is our one chance to make a difference, and we're all standing around with our thumbs up our asses. Maybe we could at least check our prostates.

But what if you don't have a prostate?

I was thinking that maybe if instead we focus on stopping the chemicals and crap they put into our food, we might start feeling better and not feel like we need to go to the doctor all the time, only to end up on some other chemical crap. Personally I don't want this health care plan unless they include naturopathic doctors. Oh, and doctors do get paid kickbacks for prescriptions. Another reason to not trust them.

As a Kentuckian, I apologize for Mitch McConnell. What can I say? I didn't and wouldn't vote for him but he keeps getting elected.

Yeah, that's the ticket! The culprit is the doctors!

A doc gave me a $1500+ per year prescription. I read up on it and found that one person in six in my age bracket is dead within six months of taking this medicine. I saved $1500.
And they worry about 1/100 of a per cent in other studies?
