FIGURE DRAWING GROUP

I think it's time to change our name to Norfolk Figure Drawing Crowd. It's a well-known sociological fact that in times of economic recession people turn to frivolous movies and naked models. As opposed to your senators and congressmen, who will turn to naked models during any old economic climate. That last sentence is an example of Trenchant Political Commentary, an attempt to add value to this blog, in the hope that some of you will be moved to send me puffy Cheetos.

I think you need more frivolous naked models. These figure drawing models of yours lack frivol. Why so sombre all the time? Surely grins and feather dusters can be interesting to draw too?

What's with those people with the laptops? Are they score keepers?

It's wonderful.

Lucky you, having directional light. It's beyond the technical capabilities of the elderly lady who organises our life drawing sessions and she won't be doing with the added complication of lights that you might have to plug in. So overhead strip lighting is what we get.

It makes a world of difference, Julie. And you guys, we have a contingent of people who draw on their computers, including me.

Looking up 'insouciant' in Wiktionary (my Collins Shorter English Dictionary is more dwarf-like than shorter) I see that insouciant was the winning word at the 24th Scripps National Spelling Bee, whatever that means, I guess the top mis-spelt word.

Ah, my labors at last recognized! You have my strip lighting sympathies, Julie...

Nice work in your grand manner, Sparky. Is there a bigger one? I looked in vain for the little box...

I don't know which I liked better the picture or the text - so I linked to you in "who's made a mark this week?" and quoted you too!

I've been life drawing from a life class on the television!

Thanks, Katherine! You Norfolk figure drawers should check out Making A Mark (link to the right) for experiences that you'll find very familiar.
