FAUX FIGURE DRAWING GROUP

I skipped figure drawing group this week to watch the debate. Not worth it, but something you gotta do, just in case. So I reworked a reject sketch from last week. I imagine watching the debate is kinda like attending a NASCAR event. A whole lotta noise and smell and exhaust, but they're still just going around in a circle. Boring as hell, but you watch anyway on the off chance there's a fiery crash, a roiling oily fire with black smoke smudging up into the sky like charcoal pushed into the newsprint and scumbled with the thumb. Kind of a shame and not signifying much, but damn it makes a pretty picture.

Scumbled - like George Bush's America and John McCain's mind.

I'm not being ageist, I'm talking about his plan for a brighter new America. Scumbled.

I saw a Mary Cassatt show on Monday. Don't know what relevance that has, except for your lady figure...and the silence after.

I watched the first 10 minutes then decided to go out and watch my grass grow for an hour. Most entertaining hour of my life.

Nice reworked reject faux figure drawing group sketch. Now say that ten times fast.

How come you didn't draw the figures on TV?

Go on - next time.............

Cool header by the way. Looks like Bernice had a paw in its creation.

pcb: yeah, scumble works well as a description of a lot of what goes on these days.

carol, pdb: thanks for header comments. Don't get me started on Bernice, though. She's decided she doesn't like the food I give her any more, and just sniffs at it and turns her back. She'll sit like that for a half hour or more, imagining that I'm getting all upset or something. Huh! She's got another imagine coming, if that's what she imagines.

jill: Mary Cassatt? They have culture in Canada? Who knew?

Candide: no, thanks. These days I have enough trouble saying normal things once.

Katherine: what a good idea. I'll have to catch the next one.

oops. I wrote "pdb" up there. That would make it "problem dild bride", which could, of course, be taken to mean "problem dildo bride", which has its own internal logic, but wasn't my intention at all.

Jill, You're in Canada? I think I might know the source of that Cobra cane your kids found by the river. (It can wait.) Cassatt's supposed to be my cousin, but her lineage is the difficult one in this.
