PAINTING ON VELVET

hair.jpg When I looked in the mirror this morning, it was like The Picture of Dorian Trump. I must have been restless in my sleep and stuck my finger in an electrical outlet. It's kinda depressing to have old-man hair instead of the luxuriant flowing locks of my youth, back in the Depression. Hey, that sentence was sort of circular. Cool. The other day, someone told a friend how to find me in a restaurant: "Just look for a white-haired guy." I don't want to be known as a white=haired guy. Why couldn't they have said, "Just look for a really talented guy"? Would that have been so hard? No, I kid my hair, but I really love it. Except I seem to be getting some kind of male-pattern hole in the back. My tall friends point it out, cause I never see it, thank God. So far cotton balls seem to help. I'm not really this vain and self-centered. Am I? Do you think I'm vain and self-centered? What else do you like about me?

Man, don't I know hair like that! (And haven't you worn it well here.) I can't speak to the white, but the gray is so coarse and vain that it insists on sticking out beyond all the other polite darker strands. Only solution is to cut it all short. And since you mention it, what does "really talented" look like?

speaking of old people - we would love to have you and chris come out to sketch our residents - the activities director says may would be good -can you be available during the week or is a sunday better - we don't do any activities on saturday - that being our sabbath - can you give me some tentative dates - of course if you also want to come out informally just let me know - it would not be a planned activity but i could line up some residents for you - also do you want to send me an e-mail address so i wont have to share all this with everyone who sees your blog - or is this ok for you??

You can email my friend wally torta and he'll see that I get it: wally at wallytorta dot com.

By the way, how hard is it to become a resident?

You're not vain but your hair is pretty full of itself. I mean that in a good way. Like, it's very thick and flowy. I didn't notice the balding myself but you may have loaded up on the cotton balls that day. You know, for the special occasion day? The day you were 'bouncing' from chair to chair with nervous anticipation? And that's what we like most about you Sparky, your nervous anticipation.
